Dave Turbide, Artist
Dave started his work life as an engineer, became an independent consultant working with manufacturing companies all of the U.S. helping them better run their businesses. Later, after writing for technical publications for several years, he and his wife started their own magazine (for manufacturers) and Dave served as chief editor for five years, during which time the magazine was purchased by a big media company. Rather than go back on the road consulting, Dave earned his living writing technical papers, blogs, and magazine articles for system and software suppliers that used to advertise in his magazine.
Later in life, he attended a couple of watercolor painting workshops and discovered that painting was something he could do… and enjoy. A few years later he branched out into oils, then found that acrylics was a better match for his temperament. He continues to explore other media, genres and techniques on his artistic journey.
A native of Newburyport, MA, Dave has always felt a strong love for the sea, boats, small fishing villages and the effect of wind and weather on old buildings and docks. Other favorite subjects include flowers, birch trees, sand dunes, reflection on water, and breaking waves. That said, he enjoys reaching out and trying new things (abstraction) and different media and techniques like colored pencils and pallet knife painting.
Dave has been an exhibiting member of the Seacoast Artists Association (Exeter, NH), and currently serves as president of the association. He recently joined the New Hampshire Art Association. His work can be seen at the SAA gallery in Exeter, The Exeter Inn (an SAA venue), the Post Center store in Stratham NH, and various NHAA locations around the stat at various times.
